I am honoured to represent my country in the Russian Federation at this point of the world's history, and may I assure that the sentiments of the people of Sri Lanka stand with you in this complicated moment in global politics and world affairs. It will be a mistake from my part, if I do not speak a few words about the complex situation in Sri Lanka, which you may be curious about, and even may be concerned about.

The Residence of the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia opened its doors in the evening of November 7, 2018, for the first official reception hosted by H. E. Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka for Russian guests representing a number of Sri Lanka-Russia partnership areas. The presentation of the Ambassador's Credentials to President Vladimir Putin was the primary occasion of the event; however, the special choice of the date was symbolic.

On November 1, Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka was among the high-ranking guests of a special presentation hosted by the Governor of Moscow Region. The presentation, organized under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for international diplomatic and business community, took place in the elegant neo-gothic MFA Guest House.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka paid a call on the Russian Foreign Ministry today (October 30th) to brief the officials of the 2nd Asia Department, responsible for South Asia and Iran, on the current developments in Sri Lanka based on the communications received from the Government of Sri Lanka.

I have decided to address the nation today in the context of the recent political developments in the country, I thought it was essential to clarify the path we have to take in the future and to describe the reasons and the background, why the current political change was necessary.

A three member delegation headed by Hon. Nalin Bandara, Deputy Minister of Public Administration & Management and Law and Order visited Russia to participate at the 22nd International Homeland Security Exhibition "Interpolitex 2018" held from 23 – 26 October 2018 in Moscow, Russian Federation.
