The Sitting of the Diplomatic Club resumed in May 2025 under the patronage of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. The Diplomatic Club is an intellectual platform for communication in a confidential atmosphere for representatives of diplomatic missions, international and regional organizations, business, scientists, educators and cultural figures.

Yekaterinburg hosted the III International Women's Forum on Harmony, Unity and Development. Shobini Gunasekera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, was invited as a special speaker and took part in the Plenary Session along with Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of Russian MFA, Maria Sittel, Chairman of the Russian Women's Union, Hoda Galal Yassa, President of the Arab Union of Women Investors and others.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe represented the country at the 13th International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters, attended by over 120 delegations from 104 countries, including members of BRICS, SCO, ASEAN, CIS, the League of Arab States, the African Union, the CSTO and other international organizations, which was held from May 27-29, 2025 in Moscow.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow celebrated Vesak, the most sacred Buddhist festival, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana of Lord Buddha. The celebration was attended by a diverse group of invitees, including Sri Lankan students, members of the business community, and Russian friends.

A cordial meeting was held between Dr. Oleg Salagai, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation and Ambassador Shobini Gunasekera at the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to explore new opportunities for collaboration in the healthcare sector.

The XV Eurasian Youth Economic Forum annual symposium organized by the Ural State University of Economics was convened in Yekaterinburg from 21st to 24th April 2025. The Forum themed around Eurasian Synergy: Multipolarity, integration and identity, building a future through dialogue and mutual understanding brought together youth delegates, academics, diplomats, and policy influencers from across the Eurasian continent to discuss pathways for Eurasian integration and sustainable and inclusive global development. The special role young people, the future leaders, global actors, scientists, entrepreneurs, and government officials can play in the realization of these goals were elaborated by the participants.
