H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation together with Ms. Thavishya Mullegamgoda, First Secretary (Commercial) and Ms. Olessya Romanova, interpreter of Sri Lanka Embassy in Russia met the first Vice-President of the Sverdlovsk Region Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mr. Porodonov Alexander and few other representatives of the Union on 07th July 2021 at the premises of the Sverdlovsk Region Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa participated in the Awarding Ceremony at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Russian Association for International Cooperation Mr. Vladimir Polozkov.

A presentation on "Sri Lankan Tourism" was conducted by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation for the representatives of the Ural Tourism Association and tour operators of the Ural region on 06th July 2021 at the Atrium hotel in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

On July 5, 2021, the International Industrial Trade Fair 2021 started its 4-day run in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Prof. M.D. Lamawansa accompanied by 1st Secretary (Commercial) Ms. Thavishya Mullegamgoda and PA Ms. Olessya Romanova attended the Conference.

In the framework of the Moscow Conference on International Security, which was held in the Radisson Collection Hotel in Moscow on June 22-24, 2021, H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Prof M.D. Lamawansa was interviewed by the Russia Today channel.

The Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) has been held annually since 2012 under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Defence. The forum has become an authoritative platform for discussing the most pressing international security issues.
