This year to celebrate the auspicious holiday of Vesak in Russia the Embassy in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Business and Professionals Society and Sri Lankan students organized a series of events.

The Sri Lanka Embassy in the Russian Federation together with SriLankan Airlines organized a tourism event on 28th May 2021 at the embassy premises inviting tourism companies in Moscow on the occasion of resumption of direct flights from Colombo to Moscow in near future.

The "Art of Tea" exhibition opened at the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library in Moscow on 26th May, 2021, which was organized by Russian tea society, along with Indian tea, Japanese tea, Taiwan tea and Ceylon tea. The Tea Promotion Unit of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow participated in this event and introduced the Ceylon tea.

The Tea Promotion Unit of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Moscow took part at the Congress of the International League of Young Scientists on May 21, 2021, which surprisingly coincided with the date of the International Tea Day. The event took place at the boarding house of the prominent Lomonosov Moscow State University "Krasnovidovo" (village in Moscow region) and gathered around 100 young people from different parts of Russia, including representatives from Armenia and Kazakhstan.

In the framework of Vesak celebrations, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized a Vesak lanterns workshop for children of a Moscow State School No. 1250.
The 20 pupils of 6th, 7th and 8th grade of the Moscow state school No. 1250, aged 12-14 years took active part in the celebrations of Vesak on 27 May 2021. The event was organized as a part of cooperation between Sri Lanka and the State School No. 1250.
