Mahinda Rajapaksa sworn in as Prime Minister
The leader of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Mahinda Rajapaksa was sworn in as the 13th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The swearing in ceremony took place at the historic Kelani Raja Maha Viharaya this morning (9).

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. M.D. Lamawansa presents copies of credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On August 06, 2020, the Ambassador-Designate of Sri Lanka to Russia, Prof. M.D. Lamawansa presented the copy of his credentials to H.E. Igor V. Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Russian MFA, and officially assumed duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation. The discussion with the Deputy Foreign Minister which followed handing over credential papers was extremely productive.

On August 5, 2020 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia held an online meeting with the Union Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Samara Region to discuss prospects of cooperation between Sri Lanka and the region, particularly in areas such as trade, tourism, and investments.
