The friendly people of Sri Lanka have come a long way in the fight first against Portugal, then Dutch and British colonisers. The island nation gained freedom in 1948 after more than a century of British colonial rule.

The Embassy discusses cooperation with the biggest library for foreign literature in Moscow
21 January 2021, Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia paid a visit to the Rudomino All Russia State Library for Foreign Literature and met with its Acting Director General Mr. Pavel Kuzmin, Mr. Migel Palaсio, Deputy Director General for Interregional and International cooperation and Ms. Olga Smirnova, Head of the Center for Coordination and Support of International Activities.
