Russian University of Transport (MIIT) meets with Universities of Moratuwa, Peradeniya, and Ruhuna to assist in improving Sri Lanka’s transport sector.
On 15 October 2020, the Embassy organized and participated in a meeting between the Russian University of Transport (MIIT) and three Sri Lanka Universities interested in transport sector education, namely, the University Moratuwa, Peradeniya, and Ruhuna.
Meeting between the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia, Kursk State Agricultural Academy and the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka
On 14 October 2020, the Embassy organized a meeting between the Kursk State Agricultural Academy and the Wayamba University. This meeting was conducted consequent to a visit of the Embassy to the Kursk region in September 2020, during which the Embassy and the Academy agreed to establish cooperation between the Academy and Sri Lankan Universities.
Online Sinhala Language Course is commenced for Native Russian Speakers
The Embassy of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the University of Ruhuna, on 17 October 2020, held an online ceremony to mark the commencement of a Sinhala Language Certificate Course for the native speakers of Russian Language.

The first Videoconference to link Medical Faculty of University of Peradeniya with Moscow City Clinical Hospital №52
On October 05, 2020 the first video-conference was held between the Medical Faculty of University of Peradeniya and Moscow City Clinical 52 at the facilitation of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Prof. M.D. Lamawansa and the Embassy team, including Mr. Mohamed Anas, Deputy Head of Mission and Ms. Nirosha Herath, First Secretary of the Embassy for political, education and cultural matters.
Moscow City Clinical Hospital was represented by its President Prof. Vladimir Vtorenko, Dr. Darya Fomina, Head of Center for Allergy and Immunology, Dr. Oleg Kotenko, Head of Moscow City Clinical and Scientific Center for Nephrology and Kidney Transplant Pathology, and Ms. Tatiana Kirillova, Head of International Cooperation Department.
Sri Lanka and China discuss economic revival and COVID-19 assistance
As part of the Government's sustained efforts at strengthening neighbourly relations, the Foreign Ministry facilitated on Friday (9/10) a high-level Chinese delegation composed of a key Political Bureau Member of the Communist Party and Diplomat Yan Jeichi along with the Chairman of China's International Development Cooperation Agency Wang Xiatao and Chinese Foreign Ministry official Cheng Song to arrive in Sri Lanka.
