In the framework of the efforts to establish connections between Sri Lankan and Russian higher education establishments Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, proposed cooperation between the Ural Federal University (UrFU) and the National School of Business Management (NSBM Green University).

In the course of the visit of the delegation of Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, initiated by Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ural Federal University (UrFU) and the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM).

Mr. A. V. Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University, visited the University of Colombo to discuss future collaboration and signed Memorandum of Understanding with Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, on 25 January 2023.

On 24 January 2023, an online ceremony was held in the course of which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the I. U. Ulianov Chuvash State University (ChuvSU) and the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEU SL).

The Sri Lankan delegation was also received by the Director of National Center of Marketing of the Republic of Belarus, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Nikolai Borisevich. The two sides spoke about the ways for effective development of trade turnover of both countries.

H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage was received by the Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Yuri Abrazevich. The two sides discussed the enhancement and reactivation of bilateral cooperation and spoke about the next sittings of Intergovernmental Commission and Political Consultation.
