The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow is pleased to announce that Red Wings, one of the leading private airlines of the Russian Federation, will start charter flight operations to Mattala International Airport in Sri Lanka, with effect from the 28th December 2022. This is the third Russian Airline serving direct flights to Sri Lanka.

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow is pleased to facilitate a leading Russian entrepreneur and business consultant specialised for e-commerce, to incorporate a private limited company called Weles Trading (Pvt) Limited in Sri Lanka with the aim of promoting Sri Lanka export via online marketing channels to Russian market.

On December 20, 2022, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage took part in the reception on the occasion of the Presentation of the cultural and educational potential of Moscow at the invitation of the Moscow Government.

The Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Belarus and University of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, signed a Memorandum of Understanding thus formalizing their cooperation on 20 December 2022.

On December 16, 2022 Ambassador H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage went to the Bolshoi Theatre at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sergey Lavrov, who traditionally hosts Heads of Missions for an annual festive seasonal reception at the Bolshoi. This year it was for the ballet performance of Swan Lake.

On December 15, 2022, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage took part in "Our World – XXI century" International Forum for Economic and Cultural Cooperation as a Guest of Honour.
