Based on the request of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow the Hon. Prasanna Ranaweera, State Minister of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion of Sri Lanka handed over a number of cultural items, including dancing costumes, Batik items, paintings, handicrafts, music instruments, display items, etc. to Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya, State Minister of Regional Cooperation to be further delivered to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia.

On 28th and 29th August 2021 Sri Lanka Tea Board participated at the "CHASHKA" (Cup) festival, which took place on the territory of the Museum of Moscow in the city centre.

In the framework of the International Army Games-2021, held in Russia and 10 other co-hosting countries, Sri Lanka Army has sent a team of 8 competitors, led by Colonel YMDJG Mungamage, to take part in the Sniper Frontier competition in the Republic of Belarus.

During the official visit to Russia by the delegation headed by the Secretary, Defence, General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne on the invitation of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, had a meeting with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolay Platonovich Patrushev.

During the visit of the delegation from Ministry of Defence Sri Lanka headed by Secretary, Defence, General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne, to the international military-technical forum Army-2021 and International Army games-2021, met the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin at the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation in Moscow.

During the period from 20August to 26 August, a delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka headed by the Secretary, Defence, General (Rtd) Kamal Gunaratne visited Moscow, Russia, to attend the International military-technical Forum Army-2021 and International Army Games-2021. There are three teams representing Sri Lanka this year.
