In the framework of a short-term training of the students of the Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College in the International School Interdom, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia organized a number of visits for the College representatives to educational establishments of Moscow.
On 31 January 2024 Mr. G. D. Sarath Bandu Gunasekara, Principal of the College, and Ms. Ishangani K. Elamaldeniya, teacher, accompanied by Mr. Chamila Jayarathna, Minister of the Embassy (Education and Economic Affairs), visited the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and the Pokrovsky Quarter School.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia presents the art and culture of Sri Lanka at an Arts Exhibition Art Mir in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. The Exhibition will be open for the general public at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair from 27 January to 4 February 2024.

On January 18, 2024 H.E. the Ambassador Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage received Agency for creative industries. The Agency was established in 2020 by the Moscow Government in order to support and develop creative businesses. The Agency was represented by Ms. Ekaterina Vilchikova, Head of the directorate for the international cooperation, and Ms.Marta Bocharnikova, Head of the Department for large scale industry projects implementation.

On 12 January 2023 at the invitation of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University (ChSPU) named after UI. Y. Yakovlev, Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, participated in a Presentation of the Exposition of the Activities of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University in Sri Lanka in the framework of the International Exhibition-Forum Russia.

On December 25, 2023 Ambassador H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage attended the reception at the Bolshoi Theatre at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sergey Lavrov, which traditionally hosts an annual festive seasonal reception at the Bolshoi for Heads of Missions. This year it was an Anniversary concert of the Berezka State Academic Choreographic Ensemble named after Nadezhdina.

The official commencement of work of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation was held on 9 January 2024 following the Russian New Year holidays. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem by the staff, which was followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in remembrance of the war heroes and those who have sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland. Thereafter, the staff took the "Oath of Public Servants," pledging to work efficiently and productively throughout the upcoming year.
