On February 28, 2024 H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage accompanied by the Minister of the Embassy Mr. Pandula De Zoysa visited the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The delegation was received by the Deputy Minister of Energy Mr. Sergey Mochalnikov.

Following a visit of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, to the Republic of Buryatia, the Embassy organized an online introductory meeting between the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM) and the Dorji Banzarov Buryat State University (BSU) on 06 March 2024.

Seven students of the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine (GWUIM) became winners of the International Distance Olympiad in Russian Language and Regional Studies among Foreign Citizens, which was hosted in November – December 2023 by the Kalmyk State University.
