Following the visit of Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Transport of Sri Lanka, to Russia, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow organized an online introductory meeting between the Rostov State Transport University (RSTU) and the Sri Lanka Railways.

07 – 16 August 2023, the NSBM Green University of Sri Lanka organized a Global Youth Camp – 2023, which gathered students from such countries as Russia, Great Britain, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, the USA and other countries enabling them to learn, while experiencing culture, history and nature of Sri Lanka.

In July 2023, the delegation headed by Hon. Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Industry - Minister of Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka and including H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Mr. Peter Ryzhkov - Chairman of the Board of Russia - Sri Lanka Friendship Society, and Mr. Vladimir Polozkov - Secretary General of the Russian Association for International Cooperation, Deputy President of Russia - Sri Lanka Friendship Society, visited Vologda region in order to study the trade, economic and industrial potential of the region.

On July 9, 2023, the INNOPROM International Industrial Trade Fair 2023 started its 4-day run in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Minister of Industry and Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka Hon. Ramesh Pathirana and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage attended the Forum.

On 31 July 2023, an official commencement of work of the Russian Language and Culture Center for Open Education was held with participation of high-level guests at the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.

24 – 28 July 2023 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia facilitated to organization of a visit of Assoc. Prof. Roman Krasnov, Vice Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy of the Ural State University of Economics (USUE), to Sri Lanka to discuss matters of cooperation with the partner Universities.
