On July 9, 2023, the INNOPROM International Industrial Trade Fair 2023 started its 4-day run in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Minister of Industry and Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka Hon. Ramesh Pathirana and Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia H.E. Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage attended the Forum.

On 31 July 2023, an official commencement of work of the Russian Language and Culture Center for Open Education was held with participation of high-level guests at the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.

24 – 28 July 2023 the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Russia facilitated to organization of a visit of Assoc. Prof. Roman Krasnov, Vice Rector for Social Affairs and Youth Policy of the Ural State University of Economics (USUE), to Sri Lanka to discuss matters of cooperation with the partner Universities.

On 22 June 2023, the Embassy participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kursk State Agricultural University (KSAU), Russia, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management of the Wayamba University.

At the initiative of Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, H. E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, on 22 June 2023, the Embassy organized an introductory online meeting between the Center of Competences in Tourism and Hospitality, the Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics and the Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine.

On 22 June 2023 Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, made a visit to the Faculty of Chemistry of the Moscow State University, the oldest University of the country established in 1755 and famous for its fundamental research and high standards of teaching.
